Zoom classes! Connectivity issues, awkward breakout sessions, hours spent staring into your screen – how can you not love that? This seems to be the new normal and for the time being, we’re going to have to deal with it. Fortunately, I’ve found a few different items to make the experience a little better, all while making sure you don’t spend too much money (college is expensive as it is!). Take a look at some of the products I purchased during Zoom season, and let me know if you have any other suggestions, because at this point, we ALL can use them.
1) Bedshelfie
- Bedshelfie: For the times where you donโt want to get out of bed or are spending late nights doing homework. Perfect to keep your phone, laptop, pencils, and books on, while keeping your side table & bed neat!
2) Multicolor Light Bulb
- Multicolor Light Bulb: Research found that lighting has a positive effect on our mood, productivity, and energy levels (Kรผller 2007). It allows you to spice up your environment which can do a lot for your well-being because, letโs face it, weโve been stuck non-stop in our homes. So, change the mood and ambient lighting with this very affordable bulb! Being exposed to blue light during the day can help you feel more energetic, while green light can help with concentration and bring a calming effect. Yellow light allows us to be in a happier mood, while red light in the evening may help with sleep.
3) Rocketbook Everlast
- Rocketbook: Reusable notebook if you donโt want to waste a ton of paper. It allows you write, scan super quickly, then erase the notes like you would a whiteboard. It has unlimited uses. You’ll need to use special FriXion pens, but they’re super affordable!
4) Diffuser + Essential Oils
- Diffuser: Anyone else going crazy yet? Starting to hear voicesโฆShh.. I’m trying to type hereโฆ anywaysโฆ A diffuser can go a long way! Aromatherapy allows scent molecules in essential oils to travel from the olfactory nerves directly to the brain and impact the amygdala (where our emotions are controlled), as stated by John Hopkins Medicine, the nationally ranked U.S. medical institution. If you havenโt already, seriously take a second to reconsider the various benefits of aromatherapy. It’s been used for centuries! There are so many essential oils to choose from, and youโll be sure to find some you enjoy. Make sure you go with higher quality ones for the best effects.
+
- Essential Oils: Try these by Lagunamoon with your diffuser. I love mixing the scents; one of my all time favorite combinations are eucalyptus and jasmine!
5) Nature’s Bakery Fig Bars
- Natureโs Bakery Fig Bars: We all need a snack without the risk of gaining 19 lbs during COVID-19… These are my go-to for a healthy treat! And if you havenโt tried them, I apologize in advance for getting you addicted to them.
6) Desktop Organizer
- Desktop Organizer: I like to assign one rack for each class as I print all of my lectures and PowerPoints to take notes on during my synchronous classes. This organizer keeps stress low by not having to worry about misplacing notes. Also, it’s kind of satisfying to place a paper in its designated place after youโve finished it!
7) Everlasting Comfort Seat Cushion
- Everlasting Comfort Seat Cushion: Youโre investing in your well-being and you canโt lie to me and say youโre standing during all of your zoom calls. Itโs like a cloud for your seat. Just try it – you might as well make your bottom happy while sitting around all day! There are a few options to choose from online, but I personally have one of these and it’s all you will ever need – best bang for your buck!
Side note:
These have also been my life savers for my current classes and some of my favorites from Amazon. Blue light glasses have been my LIFE SAVER! Check these out here – I’ve been using them to avoid eye strain. I’ve been avoiding coffee, and instead, I’ve been drinking matcha! Check out some of my favorites goodies at the moment!
